The concept's primary aim is to explore how physical interaction with thermostats can help reduce energy use. The vision is to design a system that changes user behaviour towards energy consumption through better interaction.
The final design is a system for controlling the temperature more intuitively. It comprises of 2 main parts:
-
A thermostat that uses Force Feedback for improved interaction and has integrated energy management features.
-
Electrical radiator valves. These enable the thermostat to connect with the thermal network of the home via the radiators. By connecting the thermostat wirelessly to the radiators it allows the thermostat to be installed in houses with any kind of heating pipe system. Additionally, it provides data on the thermostat for its energy management features.
