BioSonics creates visual artworks of visitor's musical experience at festivals - creating a fascinating and futuristic memory they can take home with them!
A BioSonic installation, consisting of a petri dish with the MAR solution and inoculated Flavobacteria on an adapted speaker and projected into a screen to increase visibility and avoid contamination ruining the artwork, as seen below is placed by each stage of the festival.
The speaker plays a frequency, which causes the MAR solution to condensate and the consequent water formed on the medium to form cymatics patterns. As the bacteria grow much more in water, these cymatics patterns form a unique visual artwork. The placing next to a stage, thus loud music, decreases the frustrating characteristic of the material coming from the sound of the frequencies. Each installation will play a different frequency, representing the music and experience at that stage, making visitors curious to explore the different growth patterns of the bacteria during the festival.
Because the bacteria is very autonomous in the way it grows, the outcome of the artwork will be unique every time! The curiosity-stimulating, unique and futuristic experience characteristics of the material can then be used to eternalise the visitor's musical experience in a poster.
